Turton Tea Wins Coveted Award

Destin, Florida -- Turton Tea was honored with the advertising industry's most prestigious and coveted annual award, The Addy. Turton Tea was awarded with two Addy’s, one Gold Addy (first place) for packaging design and one Silver Addy (second place) for their Christmas Chai label illustration. Inspired by Destin’s sugar-white sand beaches, the colorful packaging on Turton’s Coastal Chai and Seaside Chai illustrates their city’s Southern coastal lifestyle, making this one of Destin’s most tastiest souvenirs!

The American Advertising Federation (AAF), headquartered in Washington D.C., is the trade association that represents 50,000 professionals in the advertising industry. The ADDY® Awards are the nation’s largest advertising competition and honors excellence and creative standards in the advertising industry. The award was presented on February 23 by the Emerald Coast Advertising Federation at a formal ceremony held in Sandestin. This achievement adds to a number of other accolades that Turton Tea has attained in recent months.

Turton Tea offers estate and gourmet loose teas from some of the finest grown in the world. Although, Turton Tea is relatively a young company, the mother and daughter team started this company out of public demand. Ruth Turton’s knowledge and experience has gained recognition of her skills in the “world of tea.” She has been lecturing on tea in throughout the country for over 50 years, and still continues to do so today. Ruth is also known as the "First Lady of Tea," and is one of the most sought after speakers on the subject of tea. Her study of tea began in the 1940's, a passion she still pursues.

As Ruth traveled throughout the country speaking on tea she was often asked about how and where to purchase premium loose teas. Since she personally knew most of the international tea traders and that premium loose teas were not readily available in the stores, this prompted Ruth’s daughter, Susan, to begin product development and research. Susan Turton, who still maintains her full time career as a marketing director for Sugar Beach Interiors, conducted taste tests at Ruth’s speaking engagements with an overwhelming response. The public loved sampling the selections and so began the birth of the Turton Tea, a wholesale tea company...Destin, Florida's first tea merchants.
